Meet Dr. Toni Sturm
Raised in Wilton, Toni went to Ballard Elementary and South Glen Falls Jr. and Sr. High, and then went to Skidmore. She embarked on a journey in medicine, earning her degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. She is board-certified in internal medicine and has Masters level training in public health. Throughout her career, Dr. Sturm has consistently demonstrated her dedication to serving underserved populations, devoting her time to extensive volunteer work and as a founding board member of Citiwide Harm Reduction—a testament to her compassionate and community-focused approach.
Having secured over $1.2 million in grants for innovative medical programs in NYC, Dr. Sturm has honed her expertise in internal medicine and public health. After returning to Wilton in 2005, she worked in Glens Falls and Ticonderoga in internal medicine positions of various capacities. During her tenure as the ER Medical Director at Moses Ludington Hospital from 2015 to 2018, Toni remained committed to the local community as the hospital liaison for local drug abuse prevention. She is currently working part-time at a hospital in Albany.
Beyond healthcare, Toni is deeply committed to land preservation and wetland protection. She lives on the property where she grew up, and has been tromping the same woods for over 55 years. Toni is working with Saratoga PLAN to add her property to their trail system, reflecting her commitment to preserving green space and bettering our community.
Dr Sturm‘s desire to continue as supervisor is rooted in her love for Wilton and a sincere desire to provide the thoughtful leadership it deserves. With her medical background as a listener and problem solver and dedication to service, she brings an even temperament and valuable leadership skills to the table. Through collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity, Toni is working to empower the community, ensuring that Wilton’s voice shapes its future. Her leadership offers a chance to safeguard what makes Wilton special while steering our town towards smart growth and continued prosperity.
Toni’s Priorities and Results
EMBRACING SMART, STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT to keep “No town tax” and protect green space:
444 acres of the Klepetar Family Forest is now permanently protected.
60 other acres are also protected, all adjacent to other conserved land.
Passed a moratorium on Battery Operated Storage Systems.
Applied for state funding to review all our commercial areas using Smart Growth Principles and update their zoning to better reflect current town needs and resident preferences.
IMPROVING WILTON’S INFRASTRUCTURE:
Five outside-funded projects coming in 2027: Traffic light at Smith Bridge Rd./Rt. 9; right turn lane on Rt. 9/Daniels Rd.; replacement of Louden Rd. culvert; upgrades to eastern Louden Rd. to widen shoulders and decrease accidents; Carr Rd. roundabouts.
Underway: Design for Rt. 50 roundabouts at Jones Rd. and Ingersoll Rd.; masterplan for Gavin Park; review of town budget to enable Highway Dept. to get back on schedule for road maintenance.
Town code amended for easier installation of cellphone towers.
Northern Pines Rd. fishing pier on the Snook Kill opens August 24!
CONNECTING NEIGHBORHOODS FOR WALKERS AND BICYCLISTS:
Carr Rd./Jones Rd. multiuse path coming in 2027.
Rt. 9 multiuse path with crosswalk connecting the 2 new medical buildings.
Planned sidewalk and Rt. 9 crossing from Canopy to Renaissance Apartments.
Expansion of multiuse path on town land along Northway from Jones Rd. EMS up to Scout Rd.
Feasibility study in progress for Worth Rd. multiuse path to connect Graphite Range trails to Carr/Jones Rd. multiuse path.
